"I have not only let go of the numerous medications that I thought I would be on for the rest of my life, but I also have better mobility and I am able to babysit my newest grandchild every day, all day. A feat I never expected to accomplish before entering the Great River Family Chiropractic office and meeting Dr. Alex"

FAQs

What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a form of healthcare that focuses on correcting misalignments or subluxations in the spine. Spinal misalignments can cause pressure, irritation, or stress on nerves, which causes the body to go into a state of stress instead of a state of homeostasis. Over time, a body in this state will start to experience symptoms, ranging from pain, headaches, and numbness to organic or neurological issues. Although the Chiropractor’s intention is not to treat these symptoms but to correct the spinal misalignment, many people experience amazing results with their symptoms decreasing or being eliminated.

Is an adjustment safe? Is it safe for children? Pregnancy?

A chiropractic adjustment is one of the safest healthcare procedures there is. Adjustments are a safe, non-invasive form of healthcare. Although there is no healthcare procedure that is completely free of risk, the risks associated with chiropractic are minimal. The most common negative effect of an adjustment is muscle soreness. Current research shows that minor discomfort or soreness following spinal manipulation typically fades within 24 hours!

Chiropractic care is absolutely safe and essential for children. Kids go through so much as they are growing and developing. Physical stress from the birth process, falls, car accidents, sports, etc. can cause the spines of children to misalign and lead to all of the same symptoms that adults experience.

Dr. Alex Arguello has a lot of experience with adjusting pregnant women and continues to learn more all the time.  With 5 children of his own, his wife was adjusted throughout all 5 pregnancies with Dr. Alex Arguello adjusting her personally for the last three. More research comes out every year of the benefits of getting adjusted during pregnancy. Currently, we know that adjustments help with back pain, morning sickness, and reduction of labor and delivery time.

What testing is needed prior to care?

All of the new patients that come into GRFC will have a consultation with Dr. Alex Arguello. After going through your health history, he will determine what the next step in your care will be. Most of our new patients go through an examination that includes orthopedic and neurological testing, palpation, posture evaluation, range of motion testing as well as a surface electromyogram through our MyoVision software. If necessary, Dr. Alex Arguello will take spinal x-rays but will discuss this prior to taking them.
